Peter
Melsom is the founding partner of this firm and retired as a partner in
July 2005..
A Registered Trustee in Bankruptcy, Registered Liquidator and Official Liquidator with the Supreme Court of Western Australia, Peter holds a Bachelor of Business Degree and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a Fellow of CPA Australia, a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association, the Australian Institute of Credit Management and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
Peter has significant experience in insolvency administrations and since 1976, has conducted in partnership a Chartered Accountancy practice specialising in the field of insolvency, both relating to personal and corporate, either as Trustee to Part X administrations or to bankrupt estates under the Bankruptcy Act and as Receiver and Manager, Liquidator, Administrator or Administrator to companies subject to Deeds of Company Arrangement, under the Corporations Law.
His work has also involved considerable corporate consulting with workouts and informal arrangements including considerable investigative accounting on behalf of banks, finance companies and the Australian Taxation Office under its Fast Track Review programme.
Peter has also been the subject of many Court appointments in respect to disputed partnerships, disputed estates, land and property trusts, all involving extensive independent accounting and analysis of balance sheets and equity accounts.
His many years as Liquidator, Official Liquidator and as Administrator have involved considerable accounting analysis and in reporting to various authorities as required.
The owner of a power boat, Peter is a regular participant in time trials and other activities organised by his yacht club, of which he is a Power Section committee member. He also holds a commercial pilot's licence, enjoying membership of the Royal Aero Club of WA since 1952, serving for many years as a committee member when the club operated from the old Maylands aerodrome, then later moving to Jandakot.
Married to Kathy, a father of three sons, a grandfather of six and a past member of Rostrum and Apex, Peter is the Honorary Treasurer for the Meerilinga Young Children's Foundation Inc., a non-profit organisation devoted to the well being of young children.
